Pop-up bookstore and performance spaces in Downtown Los Angeles (2013-2015)

In 2013 Writ Large opened a tiny bookstore within another bookstore, The Last Bookstore in downtown LA. DTLAb featured books, music and art from Southern California writers and artists. We produced mini-readings, discussions and concerts in the vault-like space.

LAB – FEST

In the large performance space at The Last Bookstore we organized a day-long festival called Lab-Fest, featuring LA writers, artists and musicians. Over 1,000 audience members joined us throughout the day.

DTLABodega

In a bodega in Skid Row, LA, we organized one-on-one readings. Customers sat with a poet who read their work directly to the audience member. These readings often became exchanges, where the customer would then read an excerpt of their own work.

We also produced intimate concerts after hours.
